by [Killingworth, Connecticut]
Very Good. Single leaf. 19 x 31 cm. Written in a reasonably clear hand -- there were only a few words that we couldn't decipher. Remnants of old red seal on bottom right above and to the right of the attestation before the Justice of the Peace. Later folds. Three small holes at corners of folds with loss of a few letters. Ink darkened in a few places. Overall a sound and readable Colonial Deed. The four corners of the piece of land conveyed were described as rock-encircled trees (two chestnuts, one walnut and one red oak) -- presumably all long gone. Recording data on the other side. Framed under two-sided glass (20th century). The Platts (mostly written in this document as Plats) were one of the original white families who settled in Killingworth.
