This short biography of King Louis XVII (1785-1795) tells the story of the young king who spent nearly half of his short life in prison. Recognized as a duke at birth, Louis XVII would be named King of France at age eight, after the death of his father. Despite the title, the young king had been imprisoned when France was declared a Republic by revolutionaries the year before, and would remain so until his death just three years later, at the age of ten..
