first edition Softcover
1946 · North Hollywood, California
by BURBRIDGE, Betty
North Hollywood, California: Republic Productions, 1946. Softcover. Near Fine. Quarto. A 21pp. carbon typescript treatment (or story summary) in printed orange wrappers, together with the 63pp. shooting script in printed yellow wrappers, both by Burbridge. The script consists of mimeographed pages printed rectos only with rainbow revision leaves bound in. Both the treatment and the script are bound together with brads. Tiny coffee stain on front wrap of treatment, else very near fine. Film for the 1946 western that featured Monte Hall and was directed by R. G. Springsteen. Betty Burbridge had 75 credits as an actress in silent films up until 1916, but quickly adapted to screenwriting, with nearly 130 credits starting in 1917, the vast preponderance of them being westerns! In 1935, Burbridge was hired by Republic Pictures and became the principal writer for singing cowboy Gene Autry in the 1930s and 1940s. An interesting package, starting with her original conception as displayed in the treatment and later transformed into the shooting script. (Inventory #: 429935)
