signed first edition
1970
by OHARA, Ken
Tokyo: Tsukiji Shokan Publishing Co., 1970. Just about fine in wrappers in a fine photo-illustrated jacket clipped at the bottom edge.. First Edition. Thick quarto. SIGNED by Ohara with his trademark line extending over the page edges. A catalogue of faces, shot on the streets of New York where the Japanese-born photographer was an apprentice to Richard Avedon. The uniformity of the images, both in layout and tonal quality, suggest either a dystopian hegemony or a utopian heterogeneity. (Parr / Badger, v1, 291; Open Book 266-267; Auer 515).
