Boston: Houghton Mifflin Company. Near Fine in Very Good+ dj. 1981. First Edition. Hardcover. 039530511X . [very slight bumping to bottom corners, small bit of foxing to top of text block; jacket shows a little wear at extremities, a couple of tiny nicks and minor paper loss at top of spine, two closed tears at lower edge of rear panel, one-inch split at top front flap foldover]. INSCRIBED affectionately to friends and SIGNED by the author on the half-title page. The concluding book in Osborn's unofficial trilogy about the world of American law, which began in 1971 with "The Paper Chase" (which became a movie and a TV series) and continued in 1979 with "The Associates" (which became a TV sitcom); this book, alas, seems to have become nothing besides itself. The first two books dealt with, respectively, the experience of making it through Harvard Law School and the experience of starting out in a big Wall Street law firm; this one depicts "the private world of big-time lawyers" by focusing on a 35-year-old junior partner in a prestigious firm who's "leveled off" in his profession.
