Howes M 722; Field page 280; Sabin 49966. From Field,
"The first volume is principally occupied with a relation of the French and Spanish discovery of the territory, and the association of the colonial governments of these nations with the Indians, and their wars with the various tribes inhabiting it. Much of the larger portion of Vol. II. is devoted to a narration of the Indian wars of the States bordering the Ohio......The work is probably the best of the numerous class of books on the subject of western history.
