Andrew Carpenter Wheeler, journalists with the New York Times and the Milwaukee Sentinel and war correspondent for a syndicate of Easter Coast papers, was mostly involved as a drama and musical critique. He wrote under the pseudonym of Nym Crinkle and produced some travel logs and comedy, which this is an excellent example. The Iron Trail is travel narrative of a visit to Colorado and Kansas, written in the form of a novel. The woodcuts illustrate the topography of the Rocky's and plains of Kansas. (Inventory #: 280)
