by PRATT, Fletcher (1897-1956)
New York, 1949. unbound. very good. Fine content T.L.S. 4to. 1 page, January 29th 1949, personal letterhead, taking a swipe at two-time Pulitzer Prize recipient and fellow historian Allen Nevins, in part: "...I don't know whether it takes brains to write or not. Some producers of popular fiction seem to get by without enough to put in a teaspoon. But it seems to me that the process does demand a capacity to hold the interest of a reader, whether the subject be fiction or not, and I quite agree with you that people like Nevins produce a bellyache. They are not historians, but professors of history, which is quite a different thing..." Boldly signed and in excellent condition. American writer whose themes included science fiction, fantasy and historical novels. (Inventory #: 289640)
