Chicago: Aldine Publishing Company, 1962. First Edition. First Printing.. Original publisher's printed wrappers.. Very good; some sunning to the spine and left edge of the front wrapper.. 4to, 285, [3] pp.. Typescript. A SIGNED PRESENTATION COPY FROM THE AUTHOR. This copy also bearing the ownership signature of the economist Richard L Rudolph.
A rare and exceptional copy of a key book in post war economic theory and one of lasting impact on the American economy. This is the first time the full text of the Nobel Prize winner's legendary graduate course on price theory at the University of Chicago was published. As Friedman states in the preface to the text: "I have been extremely reluctant to have these notes offered for general sale. The reluctance has derived from my dissatisfaction with their scrappy nature. ... I went over the summaries, revised them in detail, wrote alternative versions for some, substituted previously written but unpublished material for others, and inserted, both then and at intervals since, published material that seemed particularly relevant. ... I have added to this version of the notes, two appendices ... which may help to supplement the notes." The work on price, and consumption offered here is the core of his economic work. The book finally appeared in 1976. See New Palgrave II, 422 - 427 for the entry on Friedman.
