[1] - 534 pp., 5 plates (plate 1 not bound in - as with other located copies). The asterisk indicating confused numbering of the plates, but all are present.

A run of an important journal in its formative years. The contents pages read like a who's who of nineteenth century microscopists writing on all matter of observations, equipment, lenses, improvements, and observations (e.g., vol. 9 contains a number of articles and illustrations on penicillin ferments). The text is illustrated throughout.
