by Wilder, Marshall P.
Boston: Wright & Potter, 1871. Hardcover. Near Fine. Octavo size, 59 pp. Marshall P. Wilder gave the lecture printed in this book "following a visit to California for the examination of its agricultural and horticultural resources" (per Cowan), first to the Boston Mercantile Library Association in 1870; the book contains detailed information on California's climate, plants, topography, and numerous other resources that make California an appealing destination. This, along with numerous other reports of the wonders to be found in California, encouraged thousands to make the then-arduous journey West.
