India : Unpublished, 1938. Photograph Album. Very good. Oblong 12" by 9 1/2" black paper covered boards, cord bound with 25 leaves. An album of 68 original photographs of the Chakrala British Military Hospital, by or for Sister-in-Charge, Jane Amelia Patterson, of staff, patients, wards and the local vicinity including the mountainous Sahiya. Laid in is a large format photograph of 69 members of staff taken in September 1938 with senior staff identified on the reverse. Sister Jane Amelia Patterson went on to have a distinguished war career, receiving 1st and 2nd class Royal Red Cross medals and, in 1946 a CBE. Interestingly, she turns up as a character (truncated)
