Stock Fire Insurance Company, 1929. Harry K. Rogers was born on August 18, 1889 in Marian, Kansas to John Newton Rogers (1841-1912) and Florence Eutoka Cline (1855-1940). He married Lena A Shearer (1887-1939) and had two children together, Josephine Bess Rogers (1916-2010) and Richard Shearer Rogers (1924-2014). After the death of his first wife in 1939 he remarried Miriam Rogers (1900-?). He died on September 13, 1956.. J. V. Parker. This book tells the story of Old Man Fire, and his friends (ex. Mr. Innocent Looking Match and Mr. Smouldering [sp.] Cigarette). The story starts off saying how Old Man Fire was mankind's friend. He kept them warm and cooked their food, but if they were careless he would "break his chain and destroy everything with which he comes in contact [with]." The front cover is a color illustration depicting Smoky surrounded by children. The book was given out at the end of a fire-safety course taught to children. The course is taught to the children by Smoky, the Fire Clown who was created and portrayed by Harry K. Rogers, a former fire chief.
