NA
1942
by Ayrton, Maxwell
1942. NA. Very Good. Panorama, closed, oblong, 23.5 by 32 cm, 6 panels, when spread fully open, 190 cm. Maxwell Ayrton (1874-1960) was a well-known architect, best known as the architect of Wembley Stadium. This panorama is done in pen-and-ink with tinting in brown and green by use of wash. We believe it is an updating of a drawing Ayrton did during the First World War as a presentation to a naval commander during the Second World War. The harbor is filled with warships while the peaceful city and countryside are shown in both the background and foreground. Points of interest are designated by small captions. The cover features a naval emblem as a centerpiece. The panorama is done on a heavy card stock. Condition: light foxing.
