The W.C. #1: An Occasional Publication: Trade

New York: White Columns, 2005. Bottom staple at the spine missing, else near fine in photocopied wrappers.. First Edition. Quarto. 18-page photocopied zine. Published in an "unspecified edition," but presumably small. Inaugural publication in White Columns' W.C. series, on the occasion of Trade, curated by Matthew Higgs (his first White Columns show), which paired works that had been originally traded by the artists in the show. As explained in the catalogue: "an exhibition that considers the phenomenon of artists swapping artworks with one another. (A largely undocumented 'economy' established and determined by artists.)." The catalogue consists of photocopied artist's statements and anecdotes, some typed, some handwritten, telling the stories of the trades. Front and back covers by Nate Lowman. List of participating artists include Martha Rosler, AA Bronson, Roe Ethridge, Kim Gordon, Rita Ackerman, and Rob Pruitt, to name a few.
