Includes both Yiddish and Spanish-language title pages. This work examines the history of Yiddish theater pioneer Abraham Goldfaden (1840-1908), and his collaboration with acclaimed actor Sigmund Mogulesko (1858-1914), who founded the first professional Yiddish theater troupe, in Iasi, Romania in 1876. The final three pages includes advertisements for Zylbercweig's famous Leksikon fun yidishn teater (Lexicon or Encyclopedia of the Yiddish Theatre).

Zalmen Zylbercweig (1894-1972) was amoung the greatest historians of Yiddish theater, and his magnum opus
"Leksikon fun yidishn teater (Lexicon the Yiddish Theatre, or Encyclopedia of the Yiddish Theatre)" is considered the largest and most comprehsive work on the subject ever written. The first volume was published in 1931, and entually expanded to encompase a total of six volumes published through 1969.
