Laid in is a 3-page typed draft of an article written by Bob Thomas ‘Portrait of Wellman’ dated May 6, 1974 with a few edits made by Thomas, a handwritten list of page numbers and references from the book written by Thomas, and a 2-page typed press release for the book on Hawthorn Books, Inc. printed stationery, dated May 8, 1974. Illustrated. About fine copy with some very faint offsetting to the front endpapers in a very good dust jacket with some slight fading to the spine and a bit of edge wear. The frank autobiography of the director of such film classics as Wings, The Public Enemy, Call of the Wild, A Star Is Born, Beau Geste, The Ox-Bow Incident, The High and the Mighty, etc. With a foreword by film critic Richard Schickel.
