by JOHNSON, Virginia E.
St. Louis. unbound. very good. Important A.L.S. 8vo. 2 pages, personal stationary, Reproductive Biology Research Foundation, St Louis, MO, c. 1978, to fellow researcher and collaborator Elizabeth Dreher, concerning her book 'Domination and Defiance: Fathers and Daughters in Shakespeare', which explored the history of incest, in full: "So glad to learn that we will be working together. Enclosed is Bill's [William Master's] final update of his material. On Monday I hope to send our final (collaborative) version. This is not our pattern: sending evolving versions. In this one case, thought you might find it a curious and perhaps productive opportunity. I used as much of your rewrite of the "incest" material as I could dovetail with my pasted-together intro and Bill's final pages. Just couldn't afford the time to do more. Will talk to you soon." *When Virginia E. Johnson accompanied Elizabeth Dreher on her national book tour - only then did she reveal that she herself was a victim of incest. Letters by Virginia E. Johnson with fine content are highly sought after. Fine condition. American sexologist best known as a member of the Masters and Johnson sexuality research team. Along with William H. Masters (who she later married), she pioneered research into the nature of human response and the diagnosis and treatment of sexual dysfunction.
