Napoli: Per lo de Bonis, 1723. Wraps. Very Good. Two volumes. Vol 1: , 1-207 pages. Vol 2: , 279 pages. 4to (7 1/4 x 9 1/2 inches). Drab paper boards, stitched. Some dampstaining to paper boards, soiling and some minor worming. With inked spine titles. Evidence of labels removed at spine bases. Volume II loose, dampstained internall, and with cords detaching. Nicely margined. Text in Italian. Wraps. Title, roughly translated as: "True method of using cold water in fevers, and in other internal as well as external evils: divided into two books: where with strong, clear reasons derived from the good mechanics and experimental mores, the great efficacy of such is demonstrated. remedy ...". Lanani was a Neapolitan physician who believed cold water was the cure for fever.
The second edition, published here with updates from various physicians and additional material.
NOTE: there are two editions of this title dated 1723 with the same publisher's imprint. The one offered here, with no engraved frontispiece, and complete as published. The other second edition has additional front material in the first volume, a title page dedication to Signora D. Aurelia Imperiale, and a copper engraved frontispiece. While both offer updates on the first edition of 1717, we do not know which preceded, nor the differences (if any) in content.
