Dana was educated at Harvard and eventually took a medical degree. He spent time in London working with Accum and acquiring instruments for the college. After a brief stint of medical practice in Cambridge he took up his position at Dartmouth and published the book offered here just before leaving to teach in New York City. The book is an introduction to the chemical sciences at a fairly advanced level. It is divided in two parts: inorganic and organic chemistry. A well preserved, handsome copy of the book. Cole #329; DAB III, 56.
