First Edition/First Printing in a 1st state dust jacket with the "R" colophon on the copyright page, "A Word from the Publisher" blurb on the front flap with no reviews and $4.00 price intact; A Near Fine book in a Very Good plus dust jacket. SIGNED card laid in. A beautiful copy of this classic of World War II fiction. This book is in near fine condition with a square, tight binding, bright lettering on the spine, and clean, white pages with just a hint of foxing to the edges; The spine ends and board edges are rubbed, particularly the lower edges, and a ghost of a tape mark is present to both the front and rear end papers. The very good plus dust jacket shows some minor chipping to the spine ends, the spine shows some light fading, and the back panel and flaps show some age darkening, else NF to F. Overall, a wonderful example of a book that is notoriously hard to find in collectible condition, enhanced with the author's laid in signature. An absolute must for any WWII collection and a classic of the 20th century! In archival protection and ships in a new, sturdy box.
