The work is a revised and enlarged edition of a thesis presented to the University of Missouri in I903 for the degree of Master of Arts, and is based on work done in the anatomical laboratory of the University of Missouri in I901. The object of the work is to add to the few detailed observations upon the inter-relations of the organs as found in a single body. For this purpose a body was studied by the method of sections, with reference to the more important thoracic and abdominal organs and systems; these are described individually, topography of the part and its relations to surrounding objects being given in each case, and the results compared with literature of the subject. The book is a record of laborious work which reflects the highest credit on the author." (British Medical Journal, Dec. 30, 1905).
