James Whitcomb Riley (1849-1916) was an American mid-western poet from Indiana. He was known as the "Hoosier Poet" for his home state, and the "Children's Poet" for his somewhat humorous or sentimental poems for and about children. This volume nicely illustrated by Ethel Betts, one of the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts graduates who became known for her illustrations of children.
