This is the first in the Mary Frances books, and the second issue of this story, first self-published with a different pictorial onlay to the front board. Jane Eayre Fryer (1876- ?) was a teacher of Latin and English, and later domestic art and science. This is the first of her Mary Frances books, all aimed at the young female reader, with a mind of teaching the domestic arts or sciences in a fun and novel way. Mary Frances meets friends in all of her adventures and is frequently helped through her lessons by fairies.
