Many of the plates feature vignette illustrations of the words contained in the adjacent pages, which serve as a glossary of words for a particular letter. Also five plates depicting trades, two plates, military uniforms, and a few devoted to architecture, family relations, globes, etc. The textual content is various, but all meant to be edifying to the young. Scarce, with only two institutional copies showing on OCLC First Search (Indiana and Houghton), and only two copies of the Erste Nahrung, which preceded this publication shortly before, these at Indiana and Princeton. Condition: heavy wear to contemporary binding, with calf dry and chipped at extremities and split at joints. Scattered foxing, light to heavier, within.
