First edition later printing; 24mo (3 1/2" x 5"); 143pp; light green cloth over board cover with laid on color illustration of Quibba; printed one side of page only; 36 color illustrations including frontispiece; very good. Address listed is 21 Berners Street but cover illustrations is of Quibba with a basket on his head instead of eating a watermelon. The basket Quibba was published at 22 Berners Street and was a larger edition. This variation not addressed by Barton. This is one of Bannerman's "Little Black" Story books. Little Black Quibba is the third "Little Black" Story book, preceded by Little Black Sambo in 1899, Little Black Mingo in about 1901 and followed by Little Black Quasha about 1908 and Little Black Bobtail about 1909. Bannerman was raised in India and then lived there with her husband who was in the British medical service.
