[vi] pages, followed by 20 double page maps with outline hand-coloring, and one double page plan containing four images, followed by [xxxii] pages of index. Hardcover: original spine leather is mostly lacking, with minor rubbing to the boards; has a printed paper front cover title label; binding protected in custom stiff archival mylar. Previous owner's small printed ticket on the rear endpaper (N. C. Thompson). N.C. Thompson (1828-1898) came to Rockford, IL in 1857 and was an industrialist and banker. His company made agricultural machinery, specializing in a version of John Manny's reaper. Book measures 22.6cm (height). Maps are clean and bright with original old hand-coloring; there is minor browning to most of the maps in a narrow strip at the center where the binder's stub attaches them to the book. Maps are titled: Orbis Veteribus Notus; Britannia; Hispania; Gallia; Germania; Vindelicia; Italia, Pars I; Italia, Pars II; Macedonia; Graecia extra Pelo; Peloponnesus; Insulae Maris Aegaei; Asia Minor; Oriens; Syria; Palaestina; Armenia; Africa; Mauritania, Numidia and Africa Propria; and Aegyptus.
