This is the Second edition of this publication, with additional content compared to the first published in 1657. It is one of the most beautiful illustrated books on the Escorial, which was constructed by order of the Will of Phillip II. From the historical-artistic point of view, the work presents the famous monastery of the Escorial, as a residence and pantheon of the kings of Spain. The complex was also a convent and church from 1563 to 1584. This copy has significant age toning to the sheets and dampstaining from long-ago. The dampstaining does extend into most of the plates to some degree.
