The Three Brothers is a parable that tells the story of three brothers, Phosphorus, Potash and Nitrogen, who one by one arrive at the city of Kalif and try to end its famine. Eventually the realize they must work together in order end the famine by getting the grain to grow. The brothers are meant to each represent an aspect of a 'good fairy' that helped their father's grain to grow. Phoshorus makes the grains large and ears full, Nitrogen makes the plants grow fast, and Potash which gives plants their health and vigor. Each (truncated)
