Although Arnauld and Nicole were strongly Cartesian in their emphasis on method rather than the theory of pure logic, their work forged a revolution in the study of logic, leaving behind both inadequate scholastic and outmoded Ramesian approaches. The most famous logic text of the seventeenth century, known as the Port-Royal Logic, it set the form of manuals of logic for the next two hundred years and every edition is distinct as changes and additions were incorporated constantly. Not in Brunet.
