Original Codicil To The Will of Raymond Chandler
- SIGNED
Raymond Chandler's original two-page typed letter, the official codicil to his will. The unique document, on Chandler's preferred blue onionskin paper and blue type, is to his lawyer Michael Gilbert and is dated January 18, 1957 from Palm Springs, California. In it he sets forth the directive as concerns donating his eyes ("if they want them") to a cornea bank; the desire to be cremated; and his preferred funeral service ("in a church," "nothing but the formal service for the dead," "no poems read, no speeches, no goddam parson in a funeral parlor or chapel"). Letter is signed by him: Ray. This unique document, a marvelous collectible, comes presented in a custom-designed black cloth & rich wine silk moire folding chemise with an elegant black leather label with gilt titles.
