Publicity photograph, silver gelatin print, featuring the great jazz musician holding his trumpet and measuring 8 x 10 inches. Armstrong inscribed and signed his smiling image, "Best Wishes to June from Louis Armstrong." "Direction Joe Glaser, RCA Building...New York" is printed on lower margin. Joseph G. Glaser (1896 - 1969,) who managed the careers of several jazz musicians and singers including Billie Holiday, became Armstrong's manager in 1935. Armstrong, also known Satchmo, gained importance in the 1920s as an innovative cornet and trumpet player as well as an improvisational jazz singer. His popularity and importance continued throughout his lifetime. Condition: slight crimping to lower left corner and slight browning at upper margin.
