New York: A.L. Burt, 1927. First Edition. Photoplay edition issued to coincide with the release of the silent film starring Mary Pickford and Charles Buddy Rogers (whom Pickford later married). On the front endpaper is a red bordered bookplate signed and inscribed by Charles Buddy Rogers to Hollywood film publicist Art Ronnie. Inscribed: “Art - Mary was My Best Girl - and still is. Buddy.” Laid in is Roger’s printed note card inscribed: “Hi Art, Thanks a million - Certainly appreciate pictures. Always, Buddy”. A charming tale of a five and ten cent store (truncated) shop girl who falls in love with the store owners’ son. Near fine in a dust jacket with slight rumpling to the front panel and a couple tiny chips and tears. Front panel depicts a charming Pickford in an old apron being stared at longingly by the owner’s son, while her barefoot father clasps his hands over theirs in silent approval. (Inventory #: 16094J)
