Dundee and London: Valentine & Sons, Ltd, 1922. Near fine.. First edition of this embroidery book for children, complete with silk thread and iron-on pattern transfers that feature Attwell's beloved Boo-Boos. Best known for her Boo-Boos series, Mabel Lucie Attwell's art was quite a hot commodity in this period. In addition to illustrating numerous children's books, her darling little babies appeared on everything from tea sets to thimbles to handkerchiefs. This delightful book invites children to try their little hands at making their own Attwell merchandise, and remains remarkably intact - the thread is still vibrant and bright. 8.75'' x 6.5''. Original color pictorial boards. Front board with card flap, with five colors of thread wrapped around it. Illustrated in color and black and white. [12] pages. Six iron-on transfers in wax paper envelope tipped onto inner rear board. Binding with light edgewear, tiny area of loss to spine. A bit less of one thread color remains. Leaves with a hint of toning.
