First edition. Aage Bohr, the son of Niels Bohr, received the 1975 Nobel Prize in physics together with Ben Mottelson and James Rainwater for their work on the structure of the atomic nucleus. The prize was based on work that the three had done in the early 1950s, a survey of which is given in the present paper.
