by McGOULDRICK, Paul F.
Cambridge, Massachusetts: Harvard University Press, 1968. First Edition.. Signed (in pencil) "Personal copy Prof. P.F. McGouldrick" at the top of the front endpaper. I have been unable to find and examples of McGouldrick's signature but I believe that this is it. McGouldrick was a staff member of the Federal Reserve Board. This study determines how cycles in New England cotton textile profits, output, borrowing, and capacity affected investment- and therefore industrial growth- during the nineteenth century. The firms studied were transitional firms between owner-managed companies and the modern corporation. From primary sources, McGouldrick has constructed standardized balance sheets and income statements for each company year by year. Not exactly light reading!. 8vo., cranberry-colored cloth in dust jacket; 307 pages. Illustrated With Charts & Graphs.. Very Good (covers nice; contents clean & tight); some edgewear (small nicks, tears & creases) d/j.
