MICHAEL STROGOFF

  • New York: Charles Scribner's Sons, 1927
By Verne, Jules; Wyeth, N.C.
New York: Charles Scribner's Sons, 1927. Fine in near-fine jacket.. First printing of the Wyeth edition, an incredible copy in the scarce original dust jacket. MICHAEL STROGOFF has been adapted to screens large and small, almost since the genesis of the moving picture as an art form: its first foray into theaters was in 1910, at the hands of Thomas Edison's movie studio. The N. C. Wyeth edition illuminated the story in Brandywine style, with atmospherically lit characters and sweeping scenery. This is an incredible copy of this Scribner Classic, rarely found in the dust jacket. 9.5'' x 7''. Original black cloth, pictorial paste-on. In original price-clipped dust jacket with mounted color plate (also found on page 32). Pictorial endpapers. Illustrated by Wyeth with 9 full-page color plates. vi, 397 pages. Jacket only slightly worn with a few short closed tears.
