Errata slip town away at title page. Internally clean. Early telephone directory for Hannibal, Missouri, Mark Twain's hometown. The Missouri & Kansas Telephone Company was part of the Bell Telephone system and headquartered in Kansas City. The present directory contains [43]pp. of personal alphabetical listings, followed by a [4]pp. insert of classified business listings. At the time, Hannibal was a town of about 18,000 people. Located in the northern part of the state on the Mississippi River, the town was founded as a railroad hub to connect to St. Joseph out west. We find no copies of this directory -- or any others for Hannibal -- in OCLC.
