Golden Cockerel Ephemera

Various: Golden Cockerel Press, various. A collection of Cockerel ephemera mostly from the 1930's, with a few pieces from the later periods of the Press. Includes prospectuses for Roses of Sharon; Bligh's Voyage in the Resource; Spring, Sunshine and a Chanticleer . . .; The First Fleet; Flowers and Faces; and the Ninety-First Psalm and Hymn to Proserpine. Also included are items more akin to catalogs, including Cockerels in Review for 1960; Golden Cockerel Private Press 1955-1956, British Hand-made Books; The Golden Cockerel Press: A Note on the Press and a List of New Books in hand for 1946; and The Golden Cockerel: British Private Press Books, Chefs-d'oeuvres of Printing for Bibliophiles. Condition of the pieces is generally fine, with a few examples of the common light foxing, one stamped with the name and address of Bumpus' shop in London, and a few hand written notes in one of the catalogs. There is a splendid array of illustrations in the pieces, including examples by Eric Ravilious, Mary Groom, Peter Barker-Mill, Robert Gibbings, John Farleigh, John Nash, John Buckland-Wright, and Dorothea Braby.
