Based on the 1959 novel. A rock musical set in London during the late 1950s, following two former lovers on their parallel paths to fame. David Bowie, an acquaintance of director Julien Temple, agreed to write a single for the film if he could also play the part of flashy ad executive Vendice Partners, resulting in the hit single "Absolute Beginners."
