Harlequin: Vol. 2, No. 1
- Los Angeles: [Barbara Fry / Frye], 1957
One of Bukowski's rarest early appearances in the little magazines of the 1950s and '60s, where he was already given the star-treatment by its editor, his wife. Undoubtedly a stopper for any Bukowski completist, as well as a good glimpse of his early work. Includes the pieces "Essay On The Wine-Gnat," "For They Had Things To Say," "The Rapist's Story," "Sun Coming Down," "The Piano That Ate A Man, A Shirt And A Lion," "On A Night You Don't Sleep", "80 Airplanes Don't Put You In The Clear," "Did I Ever Tell You?," "Death Wants More Death," "The Editors Say," and "My Father." Three of Bukowski's pieces here have not appeared elsewhere.
