Boston: Charles E. Lauriat, (1945). "TR" is an abbreviation for Temporary Reserve. These were Coast Guard reservists who guarded our shores, and did the domestic dirty work - from assisting law enforcement to lifesaving and rescue work - during World War II. This is a history of the Coast Guard, and its TRs, from the beginning of our country to the end of the war. It focuses on the activities of the First Naval District, which covered all the coastline of New England except for Connecticut. 47 vintage photographs give a real sense of Coast Guard life in those days. First edition. Very good condition in dust jacket. . xii, 247 pp. b/w plates.
