Westmoreland. Feb. 3, 1978.” McSherry [1929-2020] graduated from the U. S. Military Academy at West Point in 1950 and served in the U. S. Army during the Korean War. His military career spanned 20 years. Both he and Westmoreland were from Spartanburg, SC. William Childs Westmoreland [1914–2005] was a United States Army General, most notably commander of United States forces during the Vietnam War from 1964 to 1968. He served as Chief of Staff e United States Army from 1968 to 1972. This book is a personal account of a life and career almost 40 years of service that included command of US forces in Vietnam. An exceptional memoir by a general who served his country, both on and off the battlefield, with the highest distinction. A nice association copy!.
