London: Chapman and Hall, 1846. First Edition. Hardcover. Very good. The stories are selected from the five principal narrative poets, Dante, Pulci, Boiardo, Ariosto, and Tasso; they comprise the most popular of such as are fit for translation; are reduced into one continuous narrative, when diffused and interrupted, as in the instances of those of Angelica, and Armida; are accompanied with critical and explanatory notes; and, in the case of Dante, consist of an abstract of the poet's whole work." Octavo, two volumes. In one-half brown calf over marbled paper bindings, with red and green morocco spine labels, five raised bands, decorative gilt stamping, and marbled endpapers. The top edges are dust stained. Light bumping to the corners. The spines are darkened a touch, with some general browning to the marbled paper; otherwise very good. (Inventory #: 72329)
