Mercadante's collection of solo arias and duets were written during his influential stay in Paris during 1835-36. Each work is dedicated to one of the leading opera singers of the day. Franz Liszt wrote transcriptions of six of these songs as his own Soirées Italiennes (LW A47), published in 1840. (Inventory #: 33474)
