Berkeley: International Blues Record Club. 1963. First Printing. Softcover. Three legal size sheets stapled in the upper left corner. This mailing consists of what may have been three separate advertisement sheets, stapled together by the publisher for convenience. The first two pages are terms, pricing, shipping and a short introduction, backed with a list of available Arhoolie LPs + other labels he carried: Delmark (601-604), Origin (1-5), Folklyric and others. The next page is a true Bulletin, headed Vol 2, No. 2,a lengthy narrative of his activities and travels, helping the production of a German TV show, recording J. E. Mainer, stories about blues happenings in California. This sheet is backed with advertisements for Arhoolie and other labels, half of which is duplicated in the list above, but also mentioning Piedmont, Crown, and others + announcing the coming of The Unexpurgated Folk Songs of Men. Page 5 is an announcement with details about the forthcoming the American Folk Occasional which runs on to page 6, the second half of which is reserved for mailing addresses and postage. This copy is very good, folded at the center, and has name and address of recipient + cancelled stamp. An early view of what would become the Arhoolie Foundation and a large collection housed at the Smithsonian. and a record label operated by Smithsonian Folkways. ; 8 x 14" . (Inventory #: 31442)
