1930s. Original autograph signature of British author Dorothy Kathleen (D.K.) Broster, written in vintage fountain pen ink on a 4” x 3” piece of paper: “D.K. Broster.” Fine. She was born and educated in England and served as a Red Cross nurse during World War I before becoming a successful writer. She is the author of a bestseller, The Flight of the Heron, the first book in what is known as the ‘Jacobite Trilogy’, the others being The Gleam in the North and The Dark Mile. She wrote several other historical novels, including Couching at the Door: Strange and Macabre Tales, Ships in the Bay!, Almond, Sweet Almond, World under Snow (with G. Forester), Child Royal, The Sea without a Haven, The Captain's Lad, etc. (Inventory #: 16880E)
