1900. Women Suffrage: Original UK Parliamentary Franchise (Extension of voting rights to Women). A proposed Bill for extending the Parliamentary Franchise to Women. Ordered, by the House of Commons, to be Printed, 2 February 1900. 2 pages, 13 ¼ x 8 ½ in. At this time, England was under the rule of Queen Victoria, and this proposed bill acknowledged women's property owners as individuals who should have voting rights. The bill reads: "...every woman who is the inhabitant occupier as owner or tenant of any dwelling-house, tenement, or building within the borough or county where such occupation exists, shall be entitled to be registered as a voter...to vote for a member or members to serve in Parliament." Light handling dents. Small brown stain at the bottom edge of large print side. Very good condition. British women's property owners did not gain voting rights until 1918, but most women were not allowed to vote until 1928 when universal suffrage passed.
