Wm. N. Seymour's Madison Directory and Business Advertiser

Styled the "First Annual Edition" on the title page, this is the only directory of Madison issued by Seymour. Pages 9 to 78 consist of a history and description of Madison, as well as a list of state and federal government officials. Pages 79 to 126 lists the citizens and their occupations, and pages 129 to 192 are advertisements. An ad for Madison daguerreotypist C. A. Johnson appears on the upper cover. The map is entitled Map of Madison and the Four Lake Country Dane Co. Wisconsin. It shows Madison situated between Lakes Mendota and Menona with various rail lines converging on the city. These include completed lines to Milwaukee, Chicago, and the Mississippi, as well as projected lines to Watertown, Fond Du Lac, and Lake Superior. Text extolling the town and region appears to the right of the map.

CONDITION: Good, head and foot of spine chipped, and partial loss of leather at front hinge, but covers firmly attached.
