The Scientific American was begun in 1845 as a monthly issued periodical. Mo issues featured architectural designs for houses and commercial structures wi appropriate building and design advertisements, but there were several which also focused just on the automobile which we have here. This issue, Vol. CX, no. 1 for January 3, 1914 "The Sixteenth Annual Motor Number" includes articl "The Adaptability of the Motor Truck," "Modern Electric Engine Starters and Electric Illumination Systems," and "Making the Automobile Comfortable in Winter." It has a brightly colored chromolithographic cover featuring a commercial truck on the loading dock by a ship unloading a train engine into its back. The articles inside are about automobiles, the industry and the newest advancements and features richly illustrated with black-and-white photographs.
